Technology Industry Partnership of Northwest Pennsylvania

The mission of the Technology Industry Partnership of Northwest Pennsylvania (TIP) is to help introduce advanced technologies to a spectrum of industry segments for improved opportunity and competitiveness. TIP aims to identify emerging technologies that affect total cost of operation, to define employer needs for IT and telecommunications, and to aid in developing a curriculum for radio frequency identification device (RFID) implementation and compliance.

TIP Strategies

  • Monitor emerging technologies, potential applications and new markets for regional manufacturers
  • Assist businesses in applying RFID technology for supply chain compliance and cost reduction efforts; manage incumbent worker training grants detailing the intended delivery model of RFID curriculum development
  • Identify IT and telecommunications gaps and needs across all regional tech businesses and manufacturers

TIP Results

Among the 115 members of TIP are representatives from the healthcare, plastics, metals, information technology and food processing industries. Since its creation in 2006, the partnership has secured $275,000 in partnership development funds and $96,600 in training funds.

TIP has contributed to the development of curriculum and professional opportunities in IT, telecommunications, eMarketing and Radio Frequency Identification, and is assisting in forming a new Bio-Medical Device Manufacturing/Life Sciences focus.
